Faithfully And Joyfully Waiting

We will be taken away from the pain and misery of this world.

1 Peter 1:8  You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. 9  The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.

10  This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. 11  They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ's suffering and his great glory afterward.

12  They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.

13  So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14  So you must live as God's obedient children. Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn't know any better then. 15  But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16  For the Scriptures say, "You must be holy because I am holy."

I have never seen him but I still love him and trust in his promises but you already know that God's people have always been people that had to exercise faith. Thousands of years before Jesus birth God's people were exercising faith that the Savior of the world was on the way and now those that are looking forward to him coming again are still living on faith (verse 8, 13).

And besides waiting joyfully we are also to be waiting as obedient children (verse 13). Remember how you used to live to please yourself before you became a Christ follower? Don't go back to that way of life because we have been told to become holy! If we are truly Christ followers then he should become our example of what to do and say, whatever happened to the phrase "what would Jesus do?" maybe we are not concerned enough to ask anymore but it should be asked everyday in every situation (verse 13-16).

When Jesus returns to take me home I want him to find me faithful and becoming more like him each day.

Lord thank you for paying off my sin debt, help me to live by faith, knowing that you will take care of me. Help me to live each day growing in obedience to your word so that I will become more like you.
