God's plan to save us comes with a guarantee.
Ephesians 1:13-14 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, He identified you as His own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom He promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God's guarantee that He will give us the inheritance He promised and that He has purchased us to be His own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify Him.
My recent post, in Ephesians chapter 1, have been about our salvation. I learned that it was always God's plan to save us, that the plan became a reality by Jesus and today my post is on the guarantee that my salvation is true.
Life doesn't offer us very many guarantees, we cannot be sure that we will take another breath, I cannot even be sure that I will finish this sentence. Oh look I did! We can't guarantee that people will like us or if we will have a lot of cool stuff.
One thing that does have a 100% complete guarantee is that those that believe in Jesus and the work that he accomplished on the cross are saved and they will be saved forever. We cannot lose our salvation, you have the Holy Spirit living in you as a promise, the Holy Spirit is God's guarantee that you are his and that you will receive an inheritance as his child. How could God condemn his children, the very ones that have the Holy Spirit living in them?
Romans 8:1-4 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. |
There are a lot of benefits to having the Holy Spirit living in us, not only does he guarantee our salvation but he also helps us to live with peace, he helps us to defeat the power of sin in our lives, and he shows us truth. (John 14:15-17, Romans 8:6,13)
Thank you Lord for the Holy Spirit's help. You warned us that we will have trouble in this world but you also gave us the power source that we need so that we can overcome.
