We all have work to do.
scripture
John 9:1-7 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”
3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. 4 We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. 5 But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. 7 He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!
observation
Jesus is coming near to the end of His time on earth, the night is coming when the "light of the world" will be taken away, it is estimated that six months after this miracle that he was crucified. Jesus isn't preoccupied with the terrible end of his life but instead he is still "on task" doing the works that God has sent Him to do.
Jesus said that "we must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us." And so Jesus keeps his focus and remains busy loving people, it is the reason that he came and worked for three years in ministry, it is the reason that he died for each of us.
As followers of Christ, we all have a job to do, the good works that we were created for should be our mission everyday.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
application
I must be busy doing the good works that God has prepared me to do.
prayer
Give me wisdom Lord to know what you created me to do and may I never neglect the task.
