The Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Video: The Doxology | Anthem Lights ft. Selah

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow

Psalms 72:19 Praise his glorious name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen!

Ephesians 1:3-4 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

1 Peter 1:3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,

Praise Him, all creatures here below

Psalms 22:27-29 The whole earth will acknowledge the LORD and return to him. All the families of the nations will bow down before him. For royal power belongs to the LORD. He rules all the nations. Let the rich of the earth feast and worship. Bow before him, all who are mortal, all whose lives will end as dust.

Psalms 66:4 Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises, shouting your name in glorious songs.

Psalms 148:5 Let every created thing give praise to the LORD, for he issued his command, and they came into being.

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host

Psalms 103:20-22 Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. Yes, praise the LORD, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD.

Isaiah 6:2-3 Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

Father

Ephesians 1:14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

Son

Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Holy Ghost

Ephesians 1:14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

The Giver of Life

scripture

John 1:1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God.

3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Colossians 1:15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

observation

“In the beginning the Word already existed”
In the confines of human wisdom we cannot comprehend how something could have always existed and that the thing will always exist into the future. One dangerous thing that men do when they are seeking out God is to try to explain too much about him, or to say that they cannot believe in something that they cannot understand. Even with all the knowledge that is at our disposal in the information age, it still isn’t possible to understand the idea that something didn’t have a beginning or an end.

The Bible makes it clear that the trinity didn’t begin when Jesus came to earth. God the son already existed before coming to earth, verse 14 states that the word became flesh or human so that he could exist with us, which means that he existed before he became flesh.

“God created everything through him and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything”
Jesus had an active part in all of creation, he wasn’t just a bystander looking on as God the father created everything, he was as influential on the finished product as was God the father. In the beginning God, in all three persons of the trinity, created the heavens and the earth and more specifically Jesus is mentioned as the source of life.

“To all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God”
What an interesting concept that Jesus was the giver of life, who else would be better qualified to give us life again, life that is eternal. He came into the world that he created to live and die among us and rose again to prove that he really is the giver of life that will last forever.

application

We all need to accept Jesus as the giver of life from the beginning of time and the giver of new life for eternity.

prayer

Thank you Lord for life and for giving me new life as a child of the King.

Jesus Last Prayer For His Disciples

scripture

John 17

observation

Jesus prayer here at the end of his last teaching opportunity with his disciples before going to the cross gives us some things to think about.

What a perfect relationship each person of the trinity has with the other, each of them bring glory to the other, they share everything, there is no fear, it is the perfect model for relationships the way that God intended for them to be.

1 “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. 21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.

23-24 I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

Jesus prayed for his disciples and for his future disciples, he prays for our protection from “the evil one”, that is something that we don’t think about every day. How many times have I gotten up in the morning and prayed for protection from the devil? Not often enough! He prayed that we would be with him someday but for now we have to remain in the world and keep our protection on.

He prayed that we would be taught the truth and that the truth that we learn would make us holy.

Then Jesus prays for us to obtain the same unity that he has with the Father so that we will have perfect unity with each other in the church so that the world will become aware of the love that we have and that they will be shown the source of that love.

application

I will pray for protection from the devil everyday and I will strive for the unity that Jesus wants us all to have.

prayer

Thank you Lord for loving me and for coming into this world of hate to show me the way to heaven and the way to live while I am here on earth. Give me protection today to stand firm against the devil. Help me to grow in my relationships to be more loving and to be in unity with other believers.
