God's Adoption Program

Christmas means that we can all be a part of God's family.

Galatians 3:26-29  For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on the character of Christ, like putting on new clothes. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

Galatians 4:4-7  But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.

6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

A lot of times when Christmas gets out of control it involves the kids, we do a lot this time of year to provide great presents for our kids so that they can open them up and probably toss them aside. Other kids don't have anybody to buy them a present and show them love and there are many organizations that work to help with that problem.

Most people would agree that children and Christmas go together, it is probably the perfect combination, after-all the main person in the Christmas story is a baby. Not just any baby, this baby is the Son of God, this child came to make the way for us to have a relationship with God and become a part of his family.

Sometimes you get in somebodies will because you did something but God says that it isn't about what we do rather it is about who we know and believe in. I can call God my Father because of my belief in what his son did for me, that's the only way into the family, it isn't about my ability to gain favor with God so that he will adopt me and make me a heir.

The good news of Christmas is that we can all be a part of God's family

John 1:12  But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
I have an awesome inheritance waiting for me, an inheritance that I did nothing to earn, God knew the perfect gift that I needed and he offered it for free. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Thank you Lord for adopting me into your family!
